American Association for Physician Leadership

Non-Clinical Careers for Physicians

Self-Study

Having a medical degree doesn’t restrict you to working as a clinician! There are myriad ways that you can use your training, experience, and unique skill set in a variety of industries and job settings. Too many physicians feel disengaged or unfulfilled by conventional patient care, but are hesitant to explore non-clinical jobs or are simply unaware of the options available to them. This course explores a range of non-clinical careers, teaches you how to identify fitting career opportunities, prepares you to successfully obtain and thrive in a non-clinical role.

When you enroll in this course, you will also receive a copy of the book 50 Nonclinical Careers for Physicians: Fulfilling, Meaningful, and Lucrative Alternatives to Direct Patient Care which is authored by the course instructor and serves as the foundation for course content.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
