Leadership Transition Announcement
The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) announces a planned leadership transition.
After more than 15 years of service, Dr. Peter Angood will conclude his tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer on March 31, 2026. Dr. Angood will continue working closely with the AAPL Board of Directors during the transition period to support a smooth and orderly handoff of responsibilities.
In accordance with AAPL bylaws, Dr. Claude Brunson, Chair of the Board of Directors, will serve as Interim President/CEO. The Board has also engaged Mr. Paul Pomerantz as Interim Executive Vice President to support operational continuity during the transition.
AAPL remains firmly committed to physician-led, interprofessional healthcare leadership and to its mission of developing physicians as leaders. Programs, services, and partnerships will continue without interruption.
Additional updates will be shared as appropriate.

For over 50 years.
The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.
The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
