Spencer Borden

Spencer Borden, IV, MD, MBA, currently serves as Principal of Integrity Consulting, LLC. His consulting company assisted clients in health economics and outcomes research, health and productivity management, health care data and analysis, and the value of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device products. He consults with venture capital and biotechnology research firms. His clients included a seven year project with Schering Plough, and 13 other pharmaceutical and 6 medical device firms. Prior to forming his consulting company, Dr. Borden served as Senior Medical Director of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont; Senior Managing Scientist of Exponent, Inc; Director, Employer Outcomes Research, Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems, Inc.; Senior Medical Consultant of Watson Wyatt Worldwide and as the Medical Director of Value Health Sciences, MediQual Systems, and Aetna Life Insurance Company. He has served as Director of Pediatric Radiology of the Massachusetts General Hospital and Radiologist-in-Chief of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He has held academic appointments at Harvard, Yale and the University of Pennsylvania.

He was a Director, Board of Directors and member of the Council of Fellows of the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE). He is a 37 year, Lifetime and Vanguard member of AAPL. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the AAPL. He was the Chairman of ACPE’s Forum on Entrepreneurship and Society of Corporate Medical Services. For 27 years, Dr. Borden has served as a Cohort Leader for the AAPL’s Certified Physician Executive (CPE) program and leads groups of physician executives through their leadership capstone course. He has served as a mentor and career coach to AAPL members and AAPL staff for 25 years. He has served as faculty for five ACPE National Institutes. He speaks at external National Meetings for AAPL on the impact of career choices of being a physician executive. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American College of Radiology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Medical Quality and the Center for Health Value Innovation. He has given 144 keynote speeches by invitation at national and international symposia and an author of over 50 articles and book chapters in the literature of medical science and medical management. He is an active member of Linked In, with over 4,500 contacts there.

Dr. Borden holds an MBA degree from the Executive MBA Program of the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania, a MD degree from the Harvard Medical School, a BMS from Dartmouth College and an AB from Harvard College. He has taught pediatrics, radiology and medical management at Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth and the University of Pennsylvania.
