Advanced Managing Physician Performance

In-Person

As a follow up to Managing Physician Performance, this course will take a deeper dive into giving performance enhancing/expectation aligned feedback. Through the lens of the “Inverted Pyramid” of Managing Physician Performance you will learn about 7 levels starting with recruiting with the right physician from the onset by using job characteristics models. Along the way you will learn to set clear expectations of performance and compensation while setting clear measures of performance. We will practice routine and periodic feedback and explore managing marginal performance leading us all the way to the lowest level of adverse action.

Throughout the course we use group discussions intertwined with a case study to help you analyze and practice managing physicians’ performance. The course wraps up with each learner creating their own 30/60/90 day plan to address physician performance.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
