Establishing Your Social Media Presence

Self-Study

In-Person

In the brave new world of social media, what is the role of the physician and clinician leader? Do physicians really need to be on social media? How do they build their image? This course will explore the answers to the questions and teach physicians and other health care providers key skills for establishing an effective social media presence.

When it comes to social media, it is quite often what you DON'T say that is more important than what you DO say. Over the course of three modules, learners will explore what not to do on social media, including the professional and legal concerns imperative to consider, as well as the benefits of social media use, and how to use social media as a powerful tool for impact.

We have designed this course to be highly interactive. Be prepared to be creative! As you dive into the course material throughout the three modules, you will be invited to engage in application-based activities. You’ll complete a social media audit to assess your current state of social media usage, reflect on what your social media mission statement is, and practice developing social media content using key search engine optimization techniques. The final module of the course will prepare you to develop your own social media campaign. This course is designed for those new to leveraging social media as a physician, who seek to develop a foundational, working knowledge of leveraging social media for furthering their personal and professional mission.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
