Summary:
Check out the release of the new book Value-Based Healthcare and Payment Models: Including Frontline Strategies for 20 Clinical Subspecialties by Grace Terrell and Julian Bobbitt.
We here at the American Association for Physician Leadership are happy to announce the debut of the book, “**Value-Based Healthcare and Payment Models: Including Frontline Strategies for 20 Clinical Subspecialties,”** by Grace E. Terrell, MD, MMM, CPE, FACP, FACPE, and Julian (Bo) D. Bobbitt, Jr. , attorney at Smith Anderson and President of Value Health Partners, LLC.
The book, available in the AAPL shop in both print and eBook format, addresses the move from a pay-for-service system to a value-based model in healthcare – an issue that all physician leaders are already quite familiar. Terrell and Bobbitt have culled and vetted a large body of sources and created a cohesive, 290-page guide for those in the private and public healthcare sectors. This book is a no-nonsense deconstruction of the shift to value-based care and the strategies that best serve patient and provider.
“We are delighted to partner with national pioneers Grace Terrell and Bo Bobbitt on this important and timely publication,” says Peter Angood, MD, CEO and president of the American Association for Physician Leadership®. “This book is a valuable roadmap for physician leaders who truly are on the frontlines of change and can benefit from clearly defined goals for value-based care that are presented in a positive tone, supported by field-tested examples, and which confer proven reform opportunities.”
Additionally, the authors lay out high-value strategies for twenty subspecialties that addresses the specialty-specific changes in the way medicine is practiced and paid for.
“In the complicated world of payment and delivery system reform,” says Terrell, “this book deconstructs the most challenging concepts for the novice yet provides sophisticated insights for even the most seasoned executive.”
Bobbitt adds “as value-based care is coming of age, deciding how to start can be an overwhelming task. Risks are high and success with the new models is challenging and time consuming. This book fills an important need by providing concrete and proven strategies to aid in an organization’s successful transformation.”
