WASHINGTON, DC – March 24, 2023 – The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL), in its ongoing mission to provide advanced skills and training for physician leaders has announced two new self-study courses.
The Emotionally Intelligent Physician Leader will help participants develop deeper clarity about the nature, scope, and utility of emotional intelligence, specifically as it relates to healthcare. Participants will be able to demonstrate heightened self-awareness, pristine communication skills, and competence within interpersonal dynamics. Relationships with peers, patients, and staff can strengthen as a result, leading to greater healthcare outcomes.
The Advanced Behavior Management Strategies course will facilitate a deeper understanding of behavior management within the context of leadership in healthcare organizations. For a healthcare system to consistently provide favorable outcomes to patients, it must possess an organizational culture that optimizes interpersonal dynamics. The charge to establish and maintain such a culture largely falls on the shoulders of physician leaders.
“Successful healthcare organizations of today already recognize the importance of physician engagement and leadership. Transformation of healthcare delivery in the future will continue to benefit strongly from physician leadership at all levels of the industry,” said Peter Angood, MD, FRCS (C), FACS, MCCM, FAAPL(Hon), president and CEO of AAPL. “AAPL’s role in facilitating that transformation is to provide modern and forward-thinking educational programs that broadens the knowledge base of physicians engaging in their leadership journeys.”
