Amanda Weirup, MBA, PhD, is a respected expert in organizational behavior and social psychology with a focus on negotiation and conflict management. Her consulting services and speaking engagements provide senior leaders with valuable insights and strategies to improve their negotiation and conflict management skills.
She is currently a professor in the Management department at Babson College, where she teaches popular courses in negotiation, conflict management, and organizational behavior in the undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs. Before joining Babson, she was on the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University.
Dr. Weirup has over a decade of experience in management consulting at Bain & Company and Accenture, where she led multiple strategy projects focused on cost reduction, process improvement, new business development, and customer strategy. Her impressive track record includes negotiating a multi-million dollar cost reduction in cardiology and orthopedic supply costs for a leading hospital system.
Dr. Weirup earned her MBA with concentrations in organizational behavior, finance, and strategy, and her PhD in organizational behavior from Carnegie Mellon University, where she conducted research at the intersection of decision making, helping behavior, and gender differences within organizations. Her dissertation, which won the Salancik Doctoral Dissertation Award, focused on why people agree to perform favors and how these decisions influence their work performance and satisfaction. Dr. Weirup's most recent research investigates conflict management processes in early-stage entrepreneurial ventures. She is also an expert in negotiation pedagogy, designing original exercises to facilitate learning in the negotiation classroom.
