Program Description

The Inter-Professional Leadership Academy is a comprehensive 6-month program that elevates the capabilities of your organization’s clinician and executive leadership dyads and triads for enhanced organizational impact.

Examples of what dyad relationships can benefit from this academy:

  • Chief Medical Officers & Chief Nursing Officers

  • Chief Financial Officers & Chief Operating Officers

This academy equips participants with essential skills to excel in dyad leadership roles within healthcare settings. Participants will master the art of delivering compelling presentations to organizational stakeholders, ensuring their ideas are communicated efficiently.

In this academy, dyads will develop a robust LEAN project plan, emphasizing SMART goals and incorporating A3 problem-solving skills for continuous improvement. With a focus on enhancing self-awareness, your leaders will identify their individual strengths and weaknesses to improve interpersonal dynamics within dyad relationships.

  • Direct coaching and consulting from our industry-leading program faculty to better identify and foster the elements of a healthy team.

  • Strategies for creating a harmonious and effective leadership environment by balancing assertiveness and responsiveness through various communication styles.

By the end of the academy, your team will be well-equipped to collaborate confidently, lead effectively, and drive positive organizational outcomes. They will be able to present their project results to stakeholders, highlighting immediate improvements and a sustainable path to continued success.

Application Criteria 

To be eligible to apply, applicants must: 
  • Be a current CMO, CNO, or executive-level nurse/physician partnership. Applicants could also be non-clinical healthcare executive partnership, though a nurse/physician dyad is preferred. 
  • Identify a dyad organizational project/initiative to plan, implement, and present throughout the six-month course. In other words, there must be a current problem in their organization the dyad is ready to try to solve.  
  • Have access to obtainable institutional data related to your project initiative.

Module 0 Self-Study (2 hours)


Program Pre-Work
  • Strengths Finders Assessment

Module 1 Live (5 hours)


Program Kick-Off: Problem Solving for Clinician Dyads
  • Identify individual strengths
  • Identify group strengths
  • Identify data needs and outline instructional expectations for the capstone project
  • Clarify individual and partnership roles for the duration of the program and longevity of the dyad
  • Outline problem solving approaches for clinicians
  • LEAN approach to quality and organizational improvement processes compared to the history and physicial protocol
  • Understand the components of SMART goals and how to use them effectively

Virtual (2-4 hours)


Optimizing Teamwork for Problem Solving
  • Dynamics of a healthy team, including navigating physician, nursing, and system barriers
  • A3 LEAN problem-solving principles and processes
  • Change management principles and strategies for implementing change in healthcare settings

Module 3 Virtual (2-4 hours)


Assertiveness/Responsiveness Audit and Impact Evaluation
  • Complete behavioral assessment and debrief the results
  • Analyze group results of behavioral assessment to facilitate improved self-awareness
  • Outline how to evaluate the impact of the organizational change made as a result of the implemented project once it is complete.

Module 4 Virtual (2-4 hours)


Metacommunication for Change
  • Define communication techniques along the inquiry and advocacy spectrum
  • Report additional actions to take in your organization based on project implementation to drive or sustain change
  • Identify elements of an engaging and impactful presentation

Module 5 Live (5 hours)


Capstone Presentations
  • Faculty will present key findings based on what they saw and reflected upon from working with program participants
  • Post-capstone celebrations: awards, presentation of certificates, and group photo

Are there any prerequisites required for this course?


There are no prerequisites required. Please refer to the application criteria above.

How much time is required per module?


  • Live Modules: 5 hours during one day at each live meeting. 
  • Virtual Modules: Each virtual meeting is up to 2 hours, with a possible additional 2 hours of self-study work required. 
  • Self-Study Modules: 2-4 hours per month. 

What is the program fee, and what forms of payment do you accept?


  • $7,500 for each dyad, plus travel and expenses to the live events.
  • The total payment of $7,500 must be made in one single transaction.

When is the final date I need to submit my application by?


  • Decisions will be made on a rolling basis based on our capacity and will close once we have met capacity. We will consider all applications submitted on or before September 15, ​2025. 

Will this add any signature credentials?


  • No; however, you’ll receive a certificate of completion that exemplifies your dedication and ability to effectively lead as part of a dyad.
